What is Island Creator?¶
A full editor. No second window. The island you're shaping is the island you'll play.
Island Creator is a full-fidelity terrain editor built directly into the live game scene. You design a playable island from scratch — its shape, surface, special features, obstacles, and rain settings — then play it exactly as it will appear, share it with a link, or save it to your collection.
Paid · Desktop only
Island Creator is a one-time paid unlock tied to your account, and runs on desktop browsers only. The shaping tools were designed around a mouse + keyboard; touch is a future consideration.
What you can shape
- Island geometry — size, radius, scale, tilt, bay, organic noise.
- Surface look — 9 texture options, custom color palettes, day or night.
- Rain physics — cloud spawn rate, droplet count, drop size, cloud speed.
- Features — calderas, up to 6 volcanoes (active or dormant), terraces, spirals.
- Obstacles — up to 8 props from the prop library, static or kinetic.
- Win condition — number of collection pools and the target percentage.
02 Getting in & out
Entering & exiting.¶
- Enter via the Island Creator button in the main menu. A cinematic transition flies the camera to a fresh island and the editor panel opens on the right.
- Play your island by clicking Play in the panel footer. If you have unsaved changes you'll be prompted to save first.
- Return to editing any time from the pause menu while playing your creator island.
Tip — Save before you play
Accept the save prompt unless you're explicitly testing throwaway changes. Crashes during a play session are rare, but anything not saved isn't recoverable.
03 The interface
The editor panel.¶
The panel lives on the right side of the screen. It has four tabs across the top. Every slider change updates the island in real time, with a short debounce — you see your edits immediately, with no rebuild button to click.
Click ◀ to collapse the panel into a thin strip when you want a clear view of the island. Click again to expand.

Settings tab.¶
General properties: what kind of island and what kind of weather.
Island
Island NameMax 40 chars
The name shown in-game and on leaderboards.
Targets1 · 2 · 3 · 4
Number of water collection pools on the island.
Win Target %10% – 90%
Percentage of rain that must be collected to complete the level.
Water Level
Height of the surrounding ocean. Lower values expose more terrain; higher values flood the lower slopes.
Time of DayDay · Night
Day or Night lighting for the island.
Surface
Surface Texture9 options
The normal map applied to the terrain — Sand, Slate, Layers, Swirl Sand, Crack Rock, and more.
Texture Scale1× – 32×
How large each texture tile is. [ and ] step through this while you watch the island.
Color Preset
The terrain color palette. Click Choose to open the color tester and mix or save custom palettes.
Water — rain settings
Cloud Interval3 – 20 s
Time between cloud appearances.
Droplets / Cloud5 – 30
How many raindrops each cloud releases.
Cloud Duration2 – 12 s
How long each cloud stays over the island.
Min / Max Drop Size
Size range of individual raindrops. Larger drops are heavier and harder to redirect.
Cloud Speed
How fast clouds drift across the island.
Tip — Tune rain last
Get the geometry close to right before you fiddle with rain. Cloud interval and drop count have outsized effects on difficulty, and they're easy to over-tune early when the shape is still rough.
07 Tab 02
Shape tab.¶
The geometry of the island itself.
Every slider on this tab rebuilds the island in real time. Drag, release, and the new mesh is in front of you. Combine the four sections — base, tilt, bay, surface detail — to get from generic round island to specific, characterful landform.
Base
Size8 – 20
Overall footprint of the terrain mesh.
Island Radius2 – 10
How far the landmass extends before tapering into ocean.
Scale X / Scale Y
Stretch horizontally or vertically — create thin atolls or wide oval islands.
Tilt
Raises one side of the island and lowers the other, creating a natural slope.
Angle0° – 360°
Direction the island tilts toward.
Amount
How steep the slope is. 0 = flat.
Bay
Carves a concave indent into one side of the island.
Angle0° – 360°
Which side the bay faces.
Depth
How deep the bay cuts in.
Width
How wide the opening of the bay is.
Surface detail
Procedural noise that gives the island organic variation. Most of these are subtle — small changes have visible effects.
Irregularity0 – 24
Overall organic randomness of coastline and terrain height. 0 = smooth, 24 = very jagged.
Distort Freq
Frequency of large-scale terrain warping.
Distort Amp
Amplitude of that warping — how pronounced the distortion is.
Distort Rand
Randomness added on top of the distortion.
Turbulence
Strength of high-frequency surface noise — adds bumps and ridges.
Turb Scale
Scale of the turbulence noise.
Turb Octaves
Number of turbulence layers stacked. More octaves = more fine detail.
Note — Sliders are debounced, not stepped
The island rebuilds after you stop sliding, not on every micro-movement. If you drag through a value and back, only the final position registers — so don't worry about "scrubbing".
08 Tab 03
Features tab.¶
Optional large-scale structures. Toggle on, slide to taste.
Caldera
A volcanic crater depression. When enabled, a bowl-shaped hollow is carved into the terrain.
Pos X / Pos Z
Position of the caldera center on the island.
Radius
How wide the crater is.
Depth
How deep the bowl is.
Volcanoes
Individual volcanic cones placed on the island. Up to 6 volcanoes per island. Click Add Volcano to add one; click ✕ to remove it.
Per-volcano slider
What it does
Pos X / Pos Z
Position on the island.
Height
How tall the cone rises.
Radius
Width of the volcanic base.
Steepness
Slope angle of the cone's sides.
Crater Size
Radius of the summit crater.
Crater Depth
Depth of the summit crater.
Active / Dormant
Toggle whether this volcano emits lava.
Active volcanoes change the game
A volcano set to Active will produce live lava flows during play — terrain reshapes permanently as lava cools. Plan your water collection paths with this in mind, or test with the volcano dormant first.
Terraces
Carves the terrain into stacked horizontal steps, like rice paddies or ancient earthworks.
Steps2 – 8
Number of terrace levels.
Step Height
Vertical height of each step.
Sharpness
How crisply defined the step edges are.
Spiral
Wraps a rising ramp around the island, creating a natural water-routing puzzle.
Turns1 – 5
How many times the spiral wraps around.
Width
Width of the spiral path.
Height
How much the spiral rises per revolution.
Center Height
Height of the center peak. Negative values create a central depression.
09 Tab 04
Obstacles tab.¶
Place props on the island. Some block water. Some get pushed by it.
Click Add Obstacle to open the picker and select from the prop library. Up to 8 obstacles per island. Once placed, each prop has its own controls for position, rotation, scale, and physics behavior.
Prop library
Per-obstacle controls
Pos X / Pos Z
Position on the island terrain.
Rotate0° – 360°
Y-axis rotation.
Embed
How deep the base sinks into the terrain — prevents the prop floating or hovering above an uneven surface.
Static / Kinetic
Static props are fixed in place. Kinetic props have physics mass and can be pushed by rolling water droplets.
Tip — Use Stone Wall for channels
The Stone Wall segment is the most reliable water-channel tool in the obstacle library — set it static, line a couple up, and you've built a deliberate corridor without sculpting a single hill.
10 The hidden tab
Terrain color tester.¶
A whole separate overlay for the look of the land.
Press T or click Choose next to the Color Preset setting to open the full terrain color panel — a separate overlay where you can shape exactly how the island reads at every elevation.

- Adjust individual terrain height bands — peak, high, mid high, mid, mid low, low, shallow, deep, ocean mid, ocean deep (10 levels).
- Mix custom palettes from scratch.
- Save named presets to your account and reuse them across islands.
- Load any saved preset and apply it to the current island instantly.
Palettes ride with the island
The applied palette is saved as part of the island config — when someone opens your share link, they see your colors, not theirs.
11 Working safely
Undo & redo.¶
The editor keeps a full history of up to 50 states. Use the buttons in the panel header or the keyboard shortcuts. Every slider release, toggle, and obstacle placement is a separate undo step.

History resets between sessions
The 50-state history is per-editing-session. Closing the creator or switching islands wipes it. Save before you close if there's any state you'd want to undo back to.
12 Keeping & spreading
Save & share.¶
Save
Click Save in the panel footer. The Save button shows a dot when there are unsaved changes. Your island is saved to your account and accessible from any device you're logged in to.
Share
Once an island is saved, the Share button copies a direct link to your clipboard. Anyone with the link can load and play your island — they don't need an account. The share link also works as a bookmark to return to your island later.
My Islands
Click My Islands at the bottom of the panel to expand a list of all your saved islands. Each entry shows the name and last-edited date. From the list you can:
- Edit — load an island back into the editor.
- Delete — permanently remove it (with confirmation prompt).
- New — start a fresh island (prompts to save if there are unsaved changes).
Tip — Send us the good ones
We're collecting standout community islands for a possible curated section. If you make something you're proud of, send the link to
[email protected].
13 Test it
Playing your island.¶
Click Play in the panel footer to switch to gameplay mode on your island. The editor panel disappears and the island behaves identically to a built-in level — rain falls, physics run, you sculpt with the normal controls. The water collection target is whatever you set in Win Target % under Settings.
To return to editing, open the pause menu and select Back to Creator.
Iterate fast
The Play / Back-to-Creator loop is the heart of designing a level. Most good islands take a dozen play-and-tweak rounds before they feel right. Don't try to nail it in one pass — the editor is built for the loop.

If something in the editor isn't behaving the way it's documented here, that's almost certainly a bug — tell us.
